COVID-19 and Library Leisure: Older Adults’ Reading Experiences
In November 2022, Dr. Nicole Dalmer, Dr. Dana Sawchuk and Mina Ly jointly published their paper, “I felt there was a big chunk taken out of my life”: COVID-19 and Older Adults’ Library-Based Magazine Leisure Reading” in the Journal of the Leisure Studies Association. The authors interviewed 21 Ontarian older adult library patrons to illuminate the ways in which widespread public library closures, caused by COVID-19, affected and altered leisurely magazine reading practices. This uniquely library patron-centred research provides timely and valuable insights for library studies and practice.
